Chaparral Studio is a creative studio based in Los Angeles, California. Offering a collection of functional and playful objects that are original designs, many of which are handmade in the studio. Goods range from hand pressed brass key chains, hand dyed or locally silk screened clothing & accessories, crystals thoughtfully packaged to tell a story, hand painted stationery, prints, stickers and then some!
CS is woman owned, operated and founded in 2012 by me - Bianca D’Amico. After graduating from Otis & later an MFA from CalArts, I was intent on building a practice that was hands-on while offering accessible beautifully crafted pieces that champion humor, a feminist perspective and also serves as a love letter to my constant inspiration - the natural world. I sought out to build a work environment that serves more as a think tank than a traditional workspace. A space where ideas can be explored and made a reality. Best of all the studio is the perfect space for my dog, an Australian Shepherd Joni Mitchell to be by my side at all times.
An ever present theme at Chaparral Studio is building on a California-centric spirit. I was born and raised in California so weaving together the influence of nearby adventures, local flora, the diverse culture and history of the Golden State was an organic way to represent myself in the work but also form a community. Projects are often drawn out of personal experience with the purpose of facilitating human connection.
Dedicated to using quality materials with an attention to detail and an ethical approach to design, Chaparral Studio strives to emphasize the importance of the unique charm handmade objects possess and I encourage the support of the creative & small business community.
No stranger to collaborations and custom designs, I have worked with both large scale companies and fellow artist / designer friends to conjure up a variety of wares.

When not in the studio or working on landscaping projects I can be found digging around in my own garden with my son. Motherhood has become a big part of my life and it is certainly making its way into how I view and make work as well!
